This Is What The Internet Has Done To The Next GenNever before has an 11-year old girl rendered me speechless. Went up to check on the church kid's club before ending my shift today. One of them sees me, and here's the conversation:
"Hey do you like My Little Pony?"
"Yeah."
"Have you read the fanfiction called 'Cupcakes'?"
My mouth hung open, and I was at a loss for words for like 10 seconds.
"...How old are you?"
"Eleven."
"And you've heard of Cupcakes?"
"Yeah, a friend showed it to me. It was really creepy."

OC Art Contest[EDIT] Official Deadline to submit your art is now December 3rd, 2012
Hey there, guys!
Would you like to have your pony OC featured in the background of the 3rd episode of the animated series "Doctor Whooves and the Assistant?"
Now you can! Just follow these rules and your OC MAY be put in the cartoon.
Rules:
-Have an OC that is a pony.
-Draw your OC doing an activity with my OC (stroking my ego, I know) and/or with Pierce Smoulder (OC for :iconbalddumborat:). You can see him in the Gangnam style video.
-Bear in mind that even if you do draw a picture, your OC may not be chosen to be put into the cartoon.
Winners will be chosen by myself, my co-animators and BalddumboRat if he/she feels up for it.
Exceptions:
-All OCs submitted and chosen to appear will be subject to modifications to fit the show style I use (recoloring, removing accessories, simplifying hairstyles, etc.) as I see fit.
-OCs will only appear in scenes where crowds and background ponies are needed. Off the top of my head

Just An MLP QuickyI've been getting asked this question a bunch latately, and I just got the thumbs up from my editor to let everyone know that YES, you will be seeing some My Little Pony comic cover work from me in the near future.  I'm doing 6 of the incentive covers for the upcoming micro-series, along with my good friend Amy Mebberson!  Make sure you pick them up if you can when they're available!

MLP - Too Many Pinkie PiesHey hey everypony!
So we finally welcome back season 3 of MLP!  I'm very excited for this season to unfold, and I hope that all of you are avoiding all the spoilers and commercials like you should be!
Next week, my first episode of season 3 airs, "Too Many Pinkie Pies." I had a blast working on this episode with my amazing board partner Dave. I have never gotten to do a full-on Pinkie Pie episode, so this was definitely a fun one for me.
Looking forward to seeing more fan content, I'm always amazed at all the talent out there!

Near FutureSo yeah, I've been a bit inactive as of late. But if you're interested in my current - and upcoming - projects, read further.
Firstly, I want to release few sets of pony bases.
Those will be high-quality vectors with various poses, including action shots, about twenty different mouths (ready for SVG animation, but that's beside the point) and a thorough set of instructions on how to use them. Now, these won't come free, I'm afraid. I sank a lot of time into those and am in some financial troubles, so I get everything I can.
So far, I think the first compendium - with 15 thin poses - will be sold for 1 000 :points: via premium content or alternatively, $10 via paypal (that's 20% that dA would take off). The second one I'm making will be some burly bodies - those will be cheaper due to the fact that there's only about six poses.
Secondly, there's the comic.
I am almost ready to put out the first chapter, around 28 pages. The whole thing will be published with one pag
In need of animation ideas.If there is one thing for me that I always struggle with, it's ideas. So now I'm coming to you guys! Woo!
Essentially I need ideas for short animations, parodies, or animated PMV's! I'll credit you for the idea, if it's made. Here's a few examples of what you can suggest:
Comics animated, short non-OC comics that are cute, funny, or heartfelt. They don't have to be yours.
Short animations in detail. "Lyra punches bonbon and then bonbon turns into a duck" would be fine, you could put less detail, more detail, whatever you think would appeal.
Parodies. I do parodies of each week's episodes that you can find on my youtube. If you have an idea for one of the episode, feel free to tell me! Included in this catagory is other video parodies parodied. Like Poneeball P and Dragonzball P<
Thinking of starting a series of pony drawing tutsOr maybe not tuts, but at least a list of the most common mistakes I see when I look at pony drawings.
It seems funny. Back at around the time when the second season ended, I looked around for pony drawing tutorials. By this time, I have spent plenty of time paying closer attention to show-style pony proportions and looking at other people's works. Now that I look back at the very pony drawing tutorials I used to look for, it just seems funny. If you ask me, they either seem to be pretty silly to provide inaccurate proportions, or they don't seem to offer that much substance and just leaves people in the dark.
Of course, my own drawings will probably not be entirely accurate, (not that show-style is any better: http://derpibooru.org/148506). Instead I will try averting this completely by using only screenshots taken from the show, and references of real horses.
However, just so I do not wind up creating something mediocre, or something that covers the same stuff as other tuts, <strong>
Huge Charity Livestream EventHiya! Sorry for the lack of updates lately but here are some exciting news.
There will be a huge livestream event with many awesome artists who will draw your requests like :iconRautakoura::icontsitra360: and :iconjohnjoseco: to name a few. And next to all the awesome artists, there is me, Zoidberg! Just kidding, just some weird duded named deathpwny.
Also, do you like pie? Apple pie perhaps? Soarin's apple pie by any chance? Or maybe Swedish Spitfire :iconspitfireplz:?
That's right, Anneli Heed is going to be in the voicechat with the artists.
So what's it all about, you might ask? There will be a general chat where you would ask for requests. Those requests will be directed to artists according to the artist's preferences. The requests are free, but you're encouraged to donate. The donation will be split and half of it goes directly to charity (Bronies for Good) and the other half will be funds for Galacon, the European con that raised a ton of bits for charity l

Popularity is lulsI feel compelled to write a little bit more about my own artistic path...
I imagined myself to be just another artist in the background who would mind his own business. I did not expect having as much popularity as I have today, but go figure. I'm a pony artist.... with fans, as I've been told.
My opinions have been having a lot of weight as soon as the first month of a new life on dA passed by. For what reason? Because I happened to draw well enough? lol. Several times, my thoughts had significantly more weight than what I intended them to, sometimes with results I am not proud of.
I'm a person known for whatever art I've made, not for my personality. I am not a people person. Put the extra weight behind my words and lackluster people skills together and *fun* stuff will happen.
I know some people wish they were more popular, but as far as I've been experiencing it so far, I feel that there's more to popularity than just being appreciated. I will admit it's a bit rewarding to

:iconcyangmou: I worked with several other mediums before, but only traditional ones, like pencil, ink and water colours. I started with pixel art because a friend made a game and it needed pixel graphics, then pixel art became a hobby and after that I started  to do visuals for games =)

As I reflect upon the past year, it is clear I have a lot to be thankful for.

Dash Academy has an amazing readership, and I am truly awed by the entertaining and encouraging feedback you have been leaving! Reading your comments fuels my own excitement for the comic. A big thank you to everyone who has sent in gift art - it is always so wonderful to see what you have made. Sixty-six (!) pieces of gift art were featured in the previous journal, and I would be delighted to feature more in this journal as well (and I always keep hard copies of your art on my computer and backup drive so I can cherish them :iconpinkieforeverplz: FOREVER).

i'm sorry... really, i didn't mean to make everyone upset.. I wanted to make a movie that everyone would enjoy but at the same time would preserve my own personal beliefs.. and I didn't want to break any "friendship" i may've established with Sorc because I do enjoy the comic.

late on this but WOW that is a lot of great news and fun reads. Grats on the website! I hope it gets a good site manager for it xD

It's been over a year now huh? *hugs* Such a wonderful year indeed it's been! I still check when I can despite being busy these past few months just to see if any pages to the comic were added ^^ I'm ever pleased you've stuck by this for so long, you have no idea <3 I feared with the slow updates in the past that you would lose interest as many before you have in their start. You have an amazing series going here, and you sure know how to keep us guessing and not afraid to throw ponies into a seemingly hard spot like the dance arc. That ending with Pierce complimenting Derpy as a last dutch effort to try and score :iconlunamadplz: was pretty gutsy and always keeps us on our toes. Not to mention poor Fluttershy and the Colt who missed his chance. Rainbow Dash and Firefly having a moment was pretty sweet.

POINT IS YOU ARE AWESOME AND HERE'S HOPING TO SEEING MORE THROUGH ANOTHER YEAR!

Hot diggedy! Congrats!

I wish I could help with the film project.... years of smoking and drinking have left me with a raspy contralto not unlike Gilda's. If only I had a mic!

Anyway, I had a question about gift art, but I'll note you about it instead.
